What to do about intestinal obstruction after stoma retrieval

The treatment of intestinal obstruction after stoma reintegration includes basic therapy and surgical therapy, and the relevant operation should be carried out under the guidance of specialized doctors. 1. Basic therapy: no matter what kind of treatment is adopted, basic therapy should be carried out first. (1) Gastrointestinal decompression: Continuous gastrointestinal decompression, commonly known as pumping gastric fluid, is conducive to the restoration of blood circulation in the intestinal wall and the reduction of intestinal wall edema. (2) Anti-infection: Apply antibiotics against gram-negative bacteria, such as cefoperazone sulbactam, to prevent bacteria from penetrating the intestinal wall to the abdominal cavity and causing infection. (3) Correcting water-electrolyte disorders and acid-base imbalance: give balanced saline solution when the laboratory results are not yet available, and add electrolytes to correct acid-base disorders after the results are available. 2. Surgical therapy: the purpose of surgery is to relieve the obstruction and remove the cause of the disease. (1) Simple relief of obstruction: adhesion relaxation, intussusception or intestinal torsion reset. (2) Intestinal segment resection: if the intestinal collaterals have been inactivated and necrotic, resection is performed. (3) Intestinal short-circuit anastomosis, intestinal stoma or intestinal exenteration. Patients with intestinal obstruction after stoma retrieval should go to hospital for treatment in time to avoid aggravation of the condition. Drugs should be applied under doctor’s guidance.
