How to take the Anointing Point

The anointing point is usually taken in a prone position, and is located on the back of the body, under the spinous process of the fourth thoracic vertebrae, three inches off the posterior midline, and on the medial side of the shoulder blades.
It is located on the bladder meridian and has the effect of tonifying deficiency and regulating lung qi. It can be used to treat consumption, cough, asthma, vomiting of blood, night sweating (abnormal sweating after going to sleep and stopping after waking up), forgetfulness, spermatorrhea, and undigested food in the stool.
The Anointing Point should not be pierced deeply to prevent pneumothorax. This point can also be used with moxibustion, and massage of the Anointed Vermicula point can be used to relieve stiffness and soreness in the shoulders.
Acupuncture should be performed by a doctor and should not be done on your own.
