What’s wrong with post-exercise heartburn?

Heartburn after exercise may be caused by physiological factors, gastroesophageal reflux disease and bile reflux gastritis.
1. Physiological factors: it may be due to excessive exercise, resulting in increased peristalsis and reflux, which leads to the symptoms of post-exercise heartburn.
2. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD): GERD is a common gastroesophageal dysfunction, which may cause heartburn after exercise due to reflux of the contents into the esophagus.
3. Bile Reflux Gastritis: It is mainly caused by the reflux of bile into the stomach as well as bad dietary habits, which is mainly manifested as epigastric pain, loss of appetite, acid reflux, and heartburn, etc. As the patient will accelerate the peristalsis of the gastrointestinal tract after exercising, it will manifest the symptom of post-exercise heartburn.
Therefore, if patients often appear after exercise heartburn, should go to the hospital in time to find out the cause of the disease, targeted treatment.
