What does it mean when the heart and kidneys don’t meet?

Heart-kidney disharmony (heart fire and kidney yin deficiency, dysfunction of the physiological functions of the heart and kidneys) is the mechanism of Chinese medicine, which is mainly due to the insufficiency of kidney yin and its inability to restrain the heart yang caused by exertion, prolonged illness, and too much intercourse, resulting in the exuberance of the heart yang. It manifests as panic, heartburn, insomnia, forgetfulness, lumbar and knee soreness (a feeling of soreness and weakness in the lumbar and knee regions), and so on. Heart-kidney dysphoria is a condition arising from the patient’s deficiency of kidney yin and fluid due to various reasons, which is unable to restrain heart yang. Possible causes are chronic diseases that constantly deplete qi and blood, resulting in insufficient yin and fluid in the heart and kidneys over a long period of time, or a frequent sexual life, which constantly depletes kidney essence, and so on. The clinical manifestations of heart and kidney incompatibility are panic, heartburn, insomnia, forgetfulness, dizziness, tinnitus, lumbar and knee pain and weakness, dryness of the throat and mouth, five heartburn and heat (the heart of the two hands and the heart of the two feet are hot, and consciously feel the heart and chest hot), hot flashes (a burst of heat), night sweating (abnormal sweating after falling asleep, and waking up to stop the sweating), and so on. Men may also experience spermatorrhea, and women may have increased leukorrhea. In case of heart-kidney disorders, it should be used under the guidance of a doctor’s diagnosis, and should not be used blindly on its own to avoid adverse consequences.
