The protruding navel is usually an umbilical hernia. In normal people, the navel is concave, and when the navel is protruding, you can find a mass in the navel, which is soft in texture, and the swelling in the navel can be returned into the abdominal cavity by gently pressing it with your hand, which is often more common in newborns, because the navel is not completely healed and the small intestine in the abdominal cavity enters through the navel to form a mass under the skin. In the early stage, the mass can be compressed with coins or gauze folded into a relatively small mass, which can slowly grow on its own. If an adult develops an umbilical hernia, it usually requires surgical removal and repair of the umbilical defect with a tension-free patch.
