What does homogeneous enhancement on an enhanced scan indicate?

The presence of uniform enhancement after enhancement scanning generally indicates the presence of blood supply in the examined tissue, which can be seen in benign or malignant diseases. Depending on the degree of enhancement, there are three types of enhancement: mild enhancement, uniform enhancement and obvious enhancement. Generally, benign lesions, such as inflammatory diseases and benign proliferative diseases, show mild enhancement after enhancement scanning. Malignant diseases, such as liver cancer, lung cancer and other malignant diseases, usually show obvious enhancement. Homogeneous enhancement after enhancement scan can be seen in benign diseases or malignant diseases. In either case, enhancement cannot confirm the nature of the lesion, and pathologic examination should be done in order to distinguish the specific nature of the lesion.
