It is possible that you are not pregnant if the pregnancy test paper is dark and light. Further blood tests for human chorionic gonadotropin (blood HCG) are needed to determine the exact diagnosis. If a compliant pregnancy test paper is used correctly, a dark and light test paper may indicate an intrauterine pregnancy, an ectopic pregnancy, or a biochemical pregnancy. It is recommended that blood be drawn every other day to test the blood HCG value. If the blood HCG doubles from the original level, it is very likely that the pregnancy is intrauterine. If the blood HCG does not double, but only rises a little, there is a high suspicion of ectopic pregnancy or embryonic dysplasia, in which case it is recommended to do further examination in a timely manner, and ultrasound can be done to observe the location of the gestational sac. If the blood HCG has not risen, but has fallen, it is very likely to be a biochemical pregnancy.
