How to read leep’s postoperative pathology report

Pathologic findings after leep knife surgery are mainly divided into four types, namely chronic cervicitis, low-grade squamous intraepithelial neoplasia of the cervix, high-grade squamous intraepithelial neoplasia of the cervix and cervical cancer. 1. Chronic cervicitis is mostly caused by acute inflammation or pathogen infection, and is a benign lesion. 2. Low-grade or high-grade squamous intraepithelial neoplasia of the cervix is mostly due to persistent HPV infection, and is a precancerous lesion. 3. Cervical cancer is the most common gynecological malignancy, and more than 99% of cervical cancers are associated with high-risk HPV infection. Any of the pathologic results after leep knife surgery requires further active treatment and adherence to regular review to avoid progression of the disease and delay in treatment.
