Brain injury refers to the organic damage of brain tissue caused by violence on the head. To determine whether there is a brain injury when a baby falls out of bed, it is necessary to make a comprehensive analysis based on clinical manifestations and auxiliary examinations.
1. Clinical manifestations
(1) Mental status: After the baby falls off the bed, we need to observe whether there are symptoms such as abnormal crying, depression, insomnia, irritability, headache, vomiting, or even impaired consciousness or coma, etc. If the above symptoms appear, we need to consider that it may be due to brain injury, such as concussion;
(2) Appearance of the head: after the baby falls off the bed, observe whether there are bruises, redness and swelling on the skin of the head, or deformation of the bones, etc. If the above symptoms appear, it indicates brain injury.
2. Auxiliary examination
If there is no abnormality in the intracranial pressure and head CT after the baby falls out of bed, it mostly means that there is no brain injury. However, if the head CT shows fracture or intracranial hematoma, it indicates brain injury.
If your baby falls out of bed without abnormal symptoms, you can observe him closely at home for the time being. Once abnormal symptoms appear, you should go to the hospital in time to have the cause clarified through examination, and then give symptomatic treatments to improve the symptoms.
