Which Acupuncture Points to Treat a Child’s Cold

If your child has a wind-cold cold, you can treat it with moxibustion points. The main acupoints are Lechu, Hegu, Fengchi, Daxi, Waiguan, and the supporting acupoints are Fengmen and Lung Yu.
Colds are classified into different types according to clinical diagnosis, including wind-cold cold, wind-heat cold, summer-damp cold, qi deficiency cold, and yin deficiency cold. If a child has a wind-cold cold, moxibustion can be used to treat it, in order to remove the wind-cold.
For wind-cold colds, take Lianqiu and Hegu points to dispel wind and surface; Fengchi to evacuate wind; Lianqiu and Hegu to clear the head and eyes; Daxi to promote Yang and disperse cold; and Waiguan to disperse wind and relieve surface. Feng Men is a commonly used point for treating colds and flu, and Lung Yu is used for treating coughs, nasal congestion and other symptoms.
When moxibustion, pay attention to carefully guarding the observation, to prevent scalding the skin; children moxibustion should be operated by a professional physician, do not operate on your own, to avoid causing injury.
