Eye jumping has nothing to do with superstitious claims of good fortune. It is clinically known as blepharospasm because of involuntary muscle jumping of the eyelids after various stimuli, and some patients may also have uncontrollable muscle twitching manifestations of the face, head, and neck. It can be caused by idiopathic factors or secondary causes, such as conjunctivitis, keratitis, conjunctival or corneal foreign bodies, impingement, blepharitis, or dry eye. After the symptoms appear, first, pay attention to eye rest, try to ensure sufficient sleep and stay away from electronic products, followed by ophthalmic slit lamp examination. If it is caused by ocular surface disease, treat the symptoms. If the condition is serious, consider botulinum toxin injection for the orbicularis oculi muscle, in addition, it needs to be differentiated from unilateral facial muscle spasm and trigeminal neuralgia.
