At present, surgical resection plus regional lymph node dissection is the only possible means to cure gastric cancer. Of course, the effect of surgery depends on the stage of gastric cancer, the depth of gastric cancer infiltration and the extent of spread. If the patient has early stage gastric cancer and there is no metastasis, it can be cured without chemotherapy after surgical resection. If patients have metastases, especially distant metastases, adjuvant chemotherapy must be given. The main purpose of chemotherapy is to relieve patients’ clinical symptoms, improve survival quality and prolong patients’ lives. For patients with gastric cancer, early detection, early diagnosis and early treatment are required, and the prognosis is good. If metastases have occurred, patients need to actively cooperate with doctors to perform surgery plus radiotherapy and other comprehensive treatments.
