Varicose veins are not recommended to be treated by bloodletting. Varicose veins form as a result of varicose nodules due to valvular insufficiency in the saphenous femoral veins of the lower limbs, where valvular regurgitation leads to stagnation of blood at the distal end. Simply bleeding the distal varicose vein nodules only can hardly solve the problem of varicose vein valve reflux fundamentally, and it is easy to recur soon. Repeated stimulation of bloodletting can easily induce the formation of thrombophlebitis in the varicose veins, with redness, swelling, heat and pain, as well as localized fever and other manifestations, so bloodletting is not recommended for varicose veins. Good treatments for varicose veins include compression stockings, while surgical methods include minimally invasive treatments such as high saphenous vein ligation stripping, minimally invasive laser radiofrequency of saphenous vein, etc. The specific surgical methods should be chosen according to the patient’s condition and reasonable treatment methods.
