Original Points of the Heart Meridian

The original point of the Heart meridian is Shenmen, which has the effect of calming the heart and tranquilizing the mind, and energizing the meridians and channels, and can be used for the treatment of heartache, heartburn, forgetfulness and other diseases. Shenmen is located at the ulnar end of the transverse stripe on the distal side of the palm of the wrist, at the radial depression of the ulnar flexor tendon of the wrist. It can be used to treat heart diseases such as heartache and heartburn, psychosomatic disorders such as amnesia, epilepsy and eclampsia, as well as sore throat, laryngeal paralysis (pharyngeal redness, swelling, pain, or dryness, with a feeling of a foreign body, or pharyngeal itching and discomfort and difficulty in swallowing), vomiting of blood, and blood in the stool. Generally, it can be used with Neiguan and Xinyu to treat heart pain, with Neiguan and Sanyinjiao to treat forgetfulness and insomnia, with Gu and Fengchi to treat laryngeal paralysis, and with Haohai and Diaphragm Yu to treat vomiting of blood and blood in stool. Acupuncture needs to be operated under the guidance of a professional Chinese medicine practitioner, and should not be done by oneself to avoid causing adverse reactions.
