Shoulder pain when pushing the chest may be caused by the following reasons: 1. The patient may have shoulder related injuries. For example, if the patient’s shoulder passively does some excessive abduction and supination activities, then it may cause some fracture, dislocation or tendon or ligament injury to the patient’s shoulder. 2. This may be caused by overexertion. If the patient overuse this side of the upper limb, then it may cause excessive fatigue of the shoulder and its surrounding muscles. This may cause pain in a large area of the muscles when doing massage. 3. This condition may be caused by inflammation within the shoulder joint. For example, when the patient has frozen shoulder, it will not only affect the shoulder, but also cause inflammation of some soft tissues on both sides of the shoulder. 4. This condition may also be caused by a lesion of the clavicle. For example, at the lateral end of the clavicle, the part that intersects with the scapula is the acromioclavicular joint. If this part has some dislocation or instability, then when doing the above massage, it will also induce pain in this part.
