Physiologic nipple discharge is nipple discharge due to changes in physiologic factors. This kind of nipple overflow does not require specialized treatment. Common physiological nipple overflows are: 1. milk secretion during lactation; 2. a small amount of milk secretion from the nipples during pregnancy; 3. women before and after menopause can sometimes have a small amount of bilateral nipple secretion due to endocrine changes; 4. bloody nipple overflows can often occur during pregnancy and lactation. This may be the result of rapid expansion of breast tissue and excessive local vascular density and is generally not clinically significant.
