How to fix a broken finger

Fractures of the finger can be fixed in the following ways: first, when the patient is treated conservatively, most of the splinting of the finger is used, in which case aluminum or wooden splints can be used to fix the finger on the dorsal and palmar sides. For these patients, a cast can be used, which can be made into a splint-like device or into a tubular cast. In addition, pre-made braces can be used for this type of patient. Second, for some patients, special traction devices can be used according to the tendency of the fracture displacement, for example, bone traction can be applied to the finger area with a kerf pin, and then the corresponding traction device can be attached with a rubber band, which is fixed only to the hand. Thirdly, surgical fixation can also be used for this type of patient, for example, by means of kerf pins or screws, which are often used when the patient has suffered severe trauma.
