What is the difference between MDS and leukemia?

MDS is called myelodysplastic syndrome. The main difference between myelodysplastic syndromes and leukemia is the difference in bone marrow biopsy results, but the clinical symptoms are similar.
In myelodysplastic syndromes, a bone marrow aspiration biopsy reveals a primitive cell level of more than 5% but less than 20%, while in leukemia, a bone marrow aspiration biopsy reveals a primitive cell level of more than 20%. This is the main difference between the two, and if MDS is left untreated, it may turn into leukemia.
The occurrence of myelodysplastic syndrome, leukemia and other hematologic diseases will lead to a reduction in peripheral blood red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets, which will cause anemia, infection, bleeding and other symptoms, and the symptoms of the two are somewhat similar.
If you experience the above symptoms or suspect myelodysplastic syndromes, leukemia or other diseases, it is recommended that you go to the hospital in time.
