Rehabilitation Steps After Hip Replacement

Rehabilitation after hip replacement prevents joint adhesion and reduces muscle atrophy. It mainly focuses on muscle strength, joint mobility and gait training. 1. On the first day after surgery, active toe dorsiflexion and plantarflexion exercises can be carried out, as well as isometric and isotonic contraction training of quadriceps muscles. 2. Two days after surgery, you can do hip flexion and extension exercises, hip flexion should be less than 60 degrees, and the time should be within 30 minutes. 3. Strengthen isometric contraction of quadriceps on the 3rd~7th day after operation, lift the calf away from the bed to do knee extension, hold it for 10 seconds each, repeat 10~20 times. Continuous passive movement of the hip and knee joints of the affected side, once every hour, twice a day. Do bed mobility training with the help of others. 4. In the second postoperative week, straight leg raise 30 degrees with assistance, hold for 10 seconds, repeat 20~30 times, and gradually transition to active straight leg raise, standing balance exercise with the support of the healthy leg. 5. In the third postoperative week, the supine position can be used to pedal bicycles in the air for 20-30 times, 10 times as a round. The limbs support half-bridge exercise hold for 10 seconds, repeat 10~20 times. During this period, patients can get out of bed and start to practice walking with crutches to avoid sudden rotation of the hip joint. 6. 3 months after the operation, hold double crutches, gradually transition to single crutches, usually 6 months later, if walking smoothly and without pain, you can give up the crutches to walk. During this period of time, the patient should avoid the internal rotation of the hip. It is recommended that the patient under the guidance of the doctor to carry out rehabilitation training, so as to avoid secondary injuries to the patient due to incorrect posture.
