Ursodeoxycholic acid tablets may not necessarily melt 8mm gallstones, if the gallstones are cholesterol type of gallbladder stones then it is possible to melt them, if they are other types of stones then they cannot be melted away. Ursodeoxycholic acid tablets are indicated for patients with cholesterol type gallstones formation and bile deficiency steatorrhea. The usual minimum course of treatment is 6 months, and the drug can be discontinued after 6 months if there is no improvement in ultrasonography and cholecystography. If the stone has been partially dissolved, the drug can be continued until the stone is completely dissolved. The drug can not dissolve bile pigment stones, mixed stones and so on. In the course of treatment of cholesterol stones, repeated biliary colic attacks, no improvement or even aggravation of symptoms, or obvious calcification of stones, it is advisable to terminate the treatment and undergo surgical treatment. It is contraindicated in cases of complete biliary obstruction and severe hepatic decompensation. Side effects such as constipation, allergy, headache and dizziness may occur after use of the drug, which usually disappear after stopping the drug. Patients are advised to consult a physician before using the drug and follow up regularly during the medication period.
