What’s wrong with frequent blinking?

Frequent blinking is usually caused by refractive errors, impingement, dry eye, conjunctivitis, etc.
1. Refractive error: Patients with refractive error can temporarily improve their vision when they blink, so they will form the habit of blinking.
2. Inverted eyelashes: Inverted eyelashes irritate the surface of the eye, and the patient will form a reflexive blinking because of the foreign body sensation in the eye.
3. Dry eye: The patient needs to refresh the tear film on the eye surface by blinking frequently because of dry eyes.
4. Conjunctivitis: Patients will also blink frequently because of the foreign body sensation caused by secretions and inflammatory stimuli in the eyes.
It is difficult for the patient to determine which condition is causing the blinking based on the symptoms. It is recommended that the patient go to the ophthalmology department of the hospital in time to confirm the diagnosis and deal with it under the guidance of the doctor.
