Syphilis can be cured. The patient has to achieve early and standardized adequate treatment in order to improve the individual’s chances of curing the disease. Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) caused by syphilis spirochete infection, which may affect the skin, mucous membranes and organs of the patient. Patients suffering from syphilis have a chance to achieve a cure if they are able to use medication to kill the syphilis spirochetes in their bodies (the preferred medication is penicillin, while alternative medications such as ceftriaxone and doxycycline can be chosen in case of allergies) in an early and regular manner. However, syphilis that has developed to an advanced stage causes damage to the relevant tissues that is difficult to completely recover from. Syphilis can be cured, but the prerequisite is that patients need to standardize their diagnosis and treatment as soon as possible, because the later the disease develops, the more serious the damage will be, and the more difficult it will be to recover from the damage caused. Individuals with suspected syphilis symptoms should seek treatment as soon as possible.
