When to do a puncture test

Doing puncture examination depends on the situation, generally there are masses, nodules and fluid in the body need to do puncture examination, as follows: 1, there are masses on the liver, abdominal wall, thyroid or breast that can be felt and seen by ultrasound, and there is blood flow signal in the masses, puncture examination can be done. The tissue under puncture will be sent to pathology department for pathological section examination to determine whether the mass is benign or malignant; 2. If there are nodules in the lung or abdominal cavity after surgery, which cannot be determined as inflammatory or tumor recurrence, pathological puncture biopsy can be done to determine; 3. If there is fluid in the chest cavity or abdominal ascites, puncture test can be done to check whether there are tumor exfoliated cells in the fluid when the source of fluid is not clear.
