Use of potassium permanganate in labor

Potassium permanganate is helpful in promoting wound recovery in the perineum after delivery by keeping the vulva dry, which is beneficial to the recovery of the wound, but does not need to be used routinely. Potassium permanganate is recommended to be started after 1 week postpartum because the endocervix has closed around 1 week postpartum, so the use of potassium permanganate at this time has no effect on the uterus. Potassium permanganate needs to be used to sit in the pelvis. Take an appropriate amount of potassium permanganate and pour in an appropriate amount of water, when the temperature is suitable, the mother can sit in the potassium permanganate solution to soak and sit in the pelvis. Each sitting time is around 5-8 minutes, which should not be too long, and continuous use of potassium permanganate is not recommended for more than 1 week. If it is used for too long, the skin of the vulva becomes excessively dry, which is not necessarily good for the recovery of the wound. At the same time, care should be taken to avoid burns during use.
