How can oropharyngeal cancer be detected?

Oropharyngeal cancer can be detected through imaging examination, cytological examination and pathological tissue biopsy.

1. Imaging examination is mainly CT and X-ray examination of oropharynx because there are quite a number of sinuses in the oropharynx and once invaded by cancer cells, it will be shown in the imaging examination, so as to find out the disease in time.

2. Cytological examination, mainly for early stage oropharyngeal cancer patients, extracts exfoliated cells from oropharyngeal area for laboratory examination, to see whether there are cancer cells so as to find out the condition.

3. Pathological tissue biopsy, which is the gold standard for diagnosing oropharyngeal cancer, can effectively determine the nature and type of tumor and provide support for later treatment.
