There is no definite clinical conclusion on exactly how long it takes to develop from gastritis to gastric cancer. If simple atrophic gastritis develops into gastric cancer, it may take 10-20 years, or even longer. However, there are many gastritis, such as erosive gastritis or simple chronic gastritis, which do not necessarily develop into the stage of gastric cancer if they can be treated in time. In particular, gastric polyps and chronic atrophic gastritis type of gastritis may be precancerous lesions of gastric cancer. When atrophic gastritis is found, treatment measures must be actively taken, and reasonable and regular medication should be used to cure atrophic gastritis completely, and regular gastroscopy review should be done every year to detect abnormal lesions or precancerous lesions, and timely surgery must be performed when severe atypical hyperplasia occurs to avoid the development of gastric cancer, which may be life-threatening.
