Children with pinched speech may be associated with cleft palate, nasal polyps, adenoid hypertrophy and other causes. According to the causes and characteristics of the disease, medication, surgical treatment and speech rehabilitation training should be chosen to correct the abnormalities of speech function.
1. Cleft palate: a congenital malformation of the maxillofacial region caused by both genetic and environmental causes. As the palatopharynx cannot be closed, the mouth and nose are connected, and there is an obvious open nasal sound, similar to pinching the voice to speak. Most advocate surgical repair at the age of 1 to 2 years, in order to facilitate the recovery of speech function, speech training 1 to 2 months after surgery.
2. Nasal polyps: extreme edema and hyperplasia of the nasal mucosa caused by inflammation, infection and other factors of stimulation, leading to symptoms of nasal congestion, appearing to pinch the throat to speak the message. Nasal glucocorticoid spray treatment such as budesonide can be carried out first. If the effect of standardized conservative treatment is unsatisfactory, it is appropriate to choose surgery to remove the diseased tissue, in order to correct the poor nasal structure, and restore normal speech.
3. Adenoid hypertrophy: Adenoid hyperplasia is caused by over-immune function, chronic inflammation stimulation and other factors, which often results in nasal congestion, snoring during sleep, and slurred speech. After diagnosis and treatment of rhinitis, sinusitis and other common diseases that cause this disease, if the symptoms can not be effectively relieved, it is necessary to perform timely surgical treatment to remove the enlarged adenoids in order to correct the normal function of speech.
When children are found to pinch their voices to speak, they can actively consult a doctor for systematic examination to clarify the diagnosis and cause of the disease, and then follow the doctor’s instructions to standardize the treatment.
