Is it possible to have sex with cervicitis?

Cervical inflammation is one of the common inflammatory diseases in gynecology and can be triggered by chronic cervical inflammation due to long-term infection by pathogenic microorganisms. Cervicitis has no significant effect on sexual life. Patients are advised to pay attention to the hygiene and health of their sexual life to avoid further aggravation of cervical inflammation. However, if the cervical inflammation is severe and the cervical epithelium is erosion-like, a small amount of vaginal bleeding may occur during sexual intercourse in such cases. In this case, external vaginal medication is needed to treat the cervical inflammation. During the period of vaginal medication, sexual intercourse is not allowed in order to ensure the effectiveness of the medication. Although cervicitis does not affect sexual life, it is recommended that patients undergo annual cervical pre-cancer screening to rule out any localized cervical epithelial lesions. If cervical lesions are detected, patients should seek medical attention in a timely manner and decide the next treatment plan based on the screening results, and if necessary, surgery. If the pre-cervical screening is not abnormal, then topical vaginal medications can be given to treat moderate to severe cervicitis. As mentioned above, mild cervicitis does not affect sex life, while moderate to severe cervicitis requires medication, and after treatment, sex life can be performed normally.
