How long does it take for tinnitus to heal from a perforated eardrum in a patient with otitis media

If a patient with otitis media has a perforated eardrum along with tinnitus, it is not easy to say exactly how long it will take to heal. In some patients, the symptoms of tinnitus will improve significantly after the inflammation subsides, usually in about a week. However, in some cases, even if the inflammation subsides, the tinnitus may persist and may even last a lifetime, sometimes affecting the patient’s normal work and life. If the patient is very young and the tympanic membrane perforation affects the hearing and even accompanies tinnitus, surgery can be considered to improve the patient’s symptoms. Patients are advised to exercise more in life and avoid catching a cold to avoid triggering the formation of otitis media in patients. Also, avoid getting water inside the ears after the tympanic membrane perforation to avoid repeated infections, and under normal circumstances small perforations may grow well in a month or so.
