Thyroid occupancy includes all nodules that occur in the thyroid gland. Whether or not thyroid occupancy requires surgical removal needs to be analyzed on a case-by-case basis. Generally, there are several cases: First, when the nodule is too large, that is, larger than 2-3 cm, and produces symptoms of pressure, it is recommended to remove it surgically. Second, nodules highly suspicious of malignancy or thyroid fine needle aspiration has confirmed malignant thyroid nodules, regardless of size, need to be surgically treated. Third, benign nodules are not recommended for surgical treatment.
