Yupingfeng San is a traditional Chinese medicine formula composed of Astragalus, Fenghuang and Atractylodes macrocephala, which has the effects of benefiting qi, fixing the surface and stopping sweating, and is used for those who have deficiency of the surface (the weakness of the surface of the body leads to abnormal sweating), spontaneous sweating (involuntary sweating during the daytime, which is aggravated with the slightest movement), malignant winds, whiteness of face (white color and lack of luster) or those who are weak and easily susceptible to wind evils. Adverse reactions and contraindications to this product are not clear.
There are also many proprietary Chinese medicines that have the effect of treating asthma, the commonly used ones are Gui Long Cough and Asthma Granules and Ma Xing Gan Shi Combination for treating solid evidence of asthma. For the treatment of asthma with deficiency syndrome, the treatment is based on the theory that the kidneys do not contain qi (dysfunction of the kidneys, unable to incorporate gases), and commonly used Chinese patent medicines with the function of tonifying the kidneys’ qi such as Gui Fu Di Huang Pills and Jin Gui Ren Qi Pills are used to treat asthma with deficiency syndrome.
