Cefothiamidine belongs to the first generation of cephalosporins, which is the first antimicrobial drug created in China. Its antibacterial spectrum is mainly effective against Gram-positive bacteria, but almost ineffective against Gram-negative bacteria, especially against Gram-negative bacilli. It also has a certain degree of nephrotoxicity, which is more obvious than that of Cephalosporin II and III. This drug is a time-dependent drug, so it should be administered daily in divided doses so that the body’s blood concentration can reach a stable level and exert a therapeutic effect. It is commonly used in the treatment of infections caused by Gram-positive bacteria such as upper respiratory tract infections, lung infections and skin infections. Before using this drug, a skin test of the original drug is required, and patients who have allergic reactions to the drug should not use it.
