Uses of Mugwort

Mugwort, generally referred to as mugwort leaves, has the effects of warming menstruation and stopping bleeding (warming the body’s meridians to stop bleeding in the body), dispersing cold and relieving pain (relieving pain by dispelling cold in the body), and tranquilizing the fetus. Mugwort is the leaves of the plant Ai, family Asteraceae, bitter, pungent and warm in nature, belonging to the spleen, liver and kidney meridians. It has the effect of warming the meridians and dispersing cold (warming the meridians of the human body and getting rid of the cold in the body) and stopping bleeding, especially good at treating women’s cold diseases, such as irregular menstruation, menstrual pain and abdominal pain, leakage of menstruation (menstruation is too heavy or more than a few drops), dripping, and miscarriage. It should be used with caution in cases of Yin deficiency and blood heat. Mugwort leaf can be used externally to dispel dampness, kill insects and relieve itching, and is used to treat itchy skin diseases such as eczema, pubic sores, scabies and other itchy skin diseases. Mugwort leaves should be used under the guidance of a professional Chinese medicine practitioner to identify the symptoms and should not be taken on its own to avoid adverse effects. In case of discomfort, please seek medical advice promptly.
