Does iodophor have an anti-inflammatory effect

Iodophor is a topical disinfectant commonly used clinically and does not have anti-inflammatory properties. The main components are simple iodine and polyvinylpyrrolidone. Iodophor can be used for disinfection of various wounds as well as preoperative skin. Application of iodophor for skin disinfection is less irritating and does not cause severe pain, so iodophor is a very widely used disinfectant. However, iodophor is a topical drug and should not be taken orally as a substitute for anti-inflammatory drugs. Oral administration of iodophor may cause nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and other gastrointestinal symptoms, and in serious cases, it may also cause gastrointestinal bleeding and shock. Therefore, iodophor cannot be used as a substitute for anti-inflammatory drugs. The presence of wound infection requires the application of antibiotics for anti-infection treatment.
