(1) Reduce tension and decompression, de-laxation and pain relief. (2) Activate blood circulation and remove blood stasis, improve microcirculation of the lesion, and enhance blood circulation and oxygen supply. We observed through animal experiments that before the needle knife intervention, rabbits had high plasma content of thromboxane B2 (TXB2) and low content of prostacyclin (PGF1a), resulting in an imbalance of TXB2/ PGF1a ratio and poor local microcirculation. In contrast, the TXB2/PGF1a ratio measured 1, 10 and 15 days after the acupuncture intervention was similar to that of the normal control group, with no significant differences. It indicates that acupuncture can PGF1a imbalance, adjust the microcirculation of the lesion through vasoactive substances, and accelerate the inflammation absorption. (3) Promote soft tissue lesion repair. (4) Acupuncture knife also has the stimulating effect of acupuncture needles, so it is presumed that acupuncture knife can stimulate endorphin release and relieve pain.
