Xiao Renewal Tang generally refers to Xiao Renewal of Life Tang, and the standard dosage of Xiao Renewal of Life Tang formula as recorded in Biquiqi Qianjin Yaofang (备急千金要方) is one tael for each of ephedra, ginseng, fenghui, scutellaria, licorice, gui xin, paeonia lactiflora, chuanxiong, and apricot kernel, while there is one appendicia, one and a half tael of antifungal, and five tael of ginger. Xiao Renewal of Life Tang is from “Biziqi Qianjin Yaofang” (Tang – Sun Simiao), which is mainly used for treating stroke with the desire to die, slow and rapid body movement, mouth and eyes not correctly aligned, tongue strong and unable to speak, dying, and a stuffy and confused state. Generally, one bucket and two liters of water are used to boil ephedra for three times, remove the foam, put all the medicines inside, and boil three liters of water.
