Can pituitary tumors be cured?

Pituitary tumors are generally difficult to cure completely, but can be treated to relieve uncomfortable symptoms and improve quality of life. The cause of pituitary tumors has not been fully elucidated, and may be related to hormone secretion malfunction, gene mutation and so on. Most pituitary tumors are benign and slow-growing, but there is a certain probability of recurrence and the pituitary function may decline after surgical resection, requiring lifelong medication, so pituitary tumors are difficult to be completely cured. If patients actively cooperate with doctors in the early stage of the disease, they can usually reduce the size of the tumor and control the progression of the disease. If pituitary tumor patients are not actively treated, the disease will easily worsen and lead to complications such as vision loss, permanent hormone deficiency and pituitary stroke, which will seriously affect the quality of life. Clinical treatment for pituitary tumor mainly adopts transnasal butterfly microsurgery, transfrontal craniotomy and other surgical methods, and can be supplemented by radiation therapy and drug therapy. It is recommended that patients diagnosed with pituitary tumor should adjust their mindset, actively cooperate with doctors and have regular medical checkups.
