Can I get the serum the day after I get the rabies shot?

After the first day of rabies vaccination, you can inject serum the next day, as long as the serum is injected within 7 days after the first vaccination. Rabies vaccination is an active immunization process, while the injection of serum, or immunoglobulin, is a passive immunization process. Rabies vaccine can only produce antibodies in about a week or so, and during the period of time when antibodies are not produced, serum can be injected to play an immunoprotective role, so serum can still be injected the next day after rabies vaccination. The indications of rabies vaccine include post-bite prophylaxis and no-bite prophylaxis, due to the high lethality of rabies, there is no contraindication once bitten by an animal; and no-bite prophylaxis can be delayed for pregnancy and acute fever. Adverse vaccine reactions include pain at the injection site, itching, dizziness and weakness. If tertiary exposure occurs, prevention failure may occur with only rabies vaccination, so people with tertiary exposure should be immunoglobulin injected at the same time as rabies vaccination. Adverse effects of immunoglobulin injection include muscle pain and hives.
