Optimal time for laparoscopic hepatectomy

The optimal time for laparoscopic hepatectomy cannot be determined, and should be judged according to the physical condition, severity of the disease, and so on. Localized lesions of the liver are resected with the help of laparoscopic surgical techniques to remove segments, lobes and hemihepatic resections, preserving normal liver tissues that are sufficient to maintain function, which are commonly used for malignant tumors of the liver, intrahepatic choledocholithiasis, hepatic trauma, hepatic abscess and hepatic cysts. Hepatic resection is prohibited if the patient is in poor physical condition and cannot tolerate the surgery, or in serious condition with infectious shock and advanced cancer. Laparoscopy allows better observation of the surgical site, is less invasive and has no age limit. If the condition is simple and there are no other complications, surgery can be performed as early as possible; in case of infectious lesions, laparoscopic hepatectomy can be performed after the infection is completely controlled; in case of tumor lesions, radical surgery should be given as early as possible. It is recommended that patients suffering from liver diseases should standardize their treatment under the guidance of their doctors.
