There is no such diagnosis as Rett’s syndrome in Chinese medicine. According to the symptoms, Rett’s syndrome belongs to the category of five-lateness and five-softness (five-lateness refers to the lateness of standing, walking, speaking, hair and teeth; five-softness refers to the softness of head and neck, softness of mouth, softness of hands, softness of feet and softness of muscles) and other diseases. It can be used to nourish the heart, strengthen the spleen and benefit the intellect by adding and subtracting Zhi Yuan San and Calamus Pill. Patients with phlegm and blood stasis obstruction can see slow reaction, involuntary movement, mental retardation, aphasia, salivation at the corners of the mouth (drooling), phlegm in the throat, sometimes restlessness and screaming. We can use Tongkou Xiexue Tang combined with Er Chen Tang to remove phlegm and open the orifices, and activate blood circulation.
