There is no such thing as “the fastest and best way to get rid of dampness”. There are many causes of dampness, which can be treated with medicines such as Huo Xiang Zheng Qi San and Ling Jiang Jie Gui Tang. Patients should go to the hospital in time to clearly identify the evidence, and follow the doctor’s instructions for medication. Dampness is categorized into internal and external dampness. Internal dampness is generally due to spleen deficiency or improper diet. The spleen is the main transporter (the spleen has the function of digesting food, absorbing food essence and water and transferring it to the whole body), and when the spleen qi is weak and weak, the function of transporter of water and liquid is out of order, thus phlegm, drink, and water-dampness are generated within the body; over-eating cold and raw food injures the spleen and stomach, resulting in the internal stoppage of water-dampness (water-dampness stays in the body). External dampness is usually caused by being in a humid environment for a long time or getting wet. Huo Xiang Zheng Qi Shui has the efficacy of relieving exterior dampness (relieving exterior evils and dispelling internal dampness), regulating qi and harmonizing the middle (regulating the qi of the spleen and stomach to make the spleen and stomach function smoothly). It is used for colds and flu caused by external wind-cold and internal dampness stagnation (stagnation of dampness in the body due to overly cold diet, etc.), with symptoms such as headache, heaviness, chest and diaphragm constriction, distension and pain in the epigastrium (abdomen), vomiting and diarrhea. If the symptoms are not relieved after taking the medicine for 3 days, one should go to the hospital. Ling Jiang Shu Gui Tang has the effect of transporting the spleen and stomach and promoting the circulation of Yang Qi. It is used for treating cold and dampness injuring the two yangs of the spleen and stomach, chills and fever, non-starvation, acid swallowing (swallowing the acid in the stomach that rushes up the oropharynx), cold form (cold body), or plumpness in the epigastrium. Allergic persons should use with caution.
