A cast is not usually needed after heel bone dislocation surgery, but may be needed if there are some special circumstances.
Dislocation of the heel bone generally requires surgical internal fixation, which can reset the dislocated heel bone, and then use compression screws to fix the reset heel bone, which is relatively strong, and requires bed rest after surgery. The heel bone is not a part with large mobility, and generally will not be displaced again, so a plaster cast is generally not needed after surgery.
If the heel bone is dislocated is a younger child, self-control is relatively poor, may need to be cast after surgery, to avoid children moving around, affecting the healing of the fracture.
The same disease, the patient’s physical condition is different, the severity of the disease is different, the treatment will be different, to follow the doctor’s instructions for the correct treatment.
