In the case of a strained Achilles tendon, the appropriate treatment plan needs to be determined based on the specific severity of the injury. For less severe cases, where there is no significant local mobility impairment, conservative treatment can be considered. Cold compresses can be applied within 24 hours, hot compresses after 24 hours, and topical spraying of Yunnan Baiyao can also be used. If the symptoms are severe and there is a restriction of movement, it is best to have an MRI. For milder cases, simple external fixation with a plaster cast may be considered. For severe symptoms, surgical treatment with anastomosis of the Achilles tendon should be considered, followed by external fixation with a plaster cast for 4-6 weeks, and then rehabilitation of the joint function, which will take about three months to fully recover.
