Yunling and Poria are not different in efficacy and function, and there is some difference in origin.
Poria is a fungus Poria cocos dry mycelium, this drug in Yunnan, Guangxi, Anhui, Hunan and other regions are cultivated, all areas of Poria cocos dry mycelium, can be called Chinese medicine Poria. The cloud ling refers to the poria produced in Yunnan. Poria and Poria in efficacy and role is no difference, only in terms of origin there is a difference.
Poria is strong in diuresis (promoting the flow of water to dispel dampness), and is often used in conjunction with Chinese medicines such as Chinese yam, atractylodes, and Job’s tears, which are effective for diarrhea caused by a deficiency of the spleen and dampness, and in conjunction with poria, cinnamon sticks, and zejiao, it can also be used to treat edema and dysuria caused by the internal suspension of water-dampness (water-dampness stagnating in the body). This herb also strengthens the spleen and calms the heart, and is also effective in palpitations and insomnia.
Poria should be taken with caution if there is deficiency of Yin without dampness-heat, deficiency of cold and essence-slip, or deficiency of Qi and subsidence. When using this medicine, patients may combine it with their own medical conditions and follow the doctor’s instructions.
