The possibility of unwanted pregnancy

The key to the question of whether an unplanned pregnancy will occur is the availability of good contraception and the fertility of both men and women. Generally the probability of unintended pregnancy is reduced if some contraceptive measures are used, usually not more than 5%, such as after male vasectomy, female tubal ligation or IUD insertion, the probability of pregnancy is generally low. The probability of unintended pregnancy increases with condom contraception and with in-vitro ejaculation methods of contraception, which are in the range of 5-10%. The probability of an unplanned pregnancy is lower if the man and woman have certain fertility defects, even without good contraception.
