Born deaf is usually not cured by medication. Born deaf can be improved at an early stage by wearing hearing aids and cochlear implants, so that the child can acquire normal speech development and improve the quality of life at a later stage.
Deafness is generally defined as a congenital sensorineural hearing loss. In infants, hearing screening is usually required at 1 month, 3 months and 6 months after birth. For infants with definite sensorineural hearing loss, early hearing intervention is recommended after 6 months of age. This condition generally cannot be cured by medication.
1. Wear a hearing aid. For children with mild to moderate hearing loss, wearing hearing aids at an early stage can amplify the sounds the child hears, improve hearing, and avoid adverse effects on the development of speech.
2. Cochlear implantation: For children with severe or profound congenital deafness in both ears, cochlear implantation is recommended if possible, which can improve and restore the children’s hearing. At the same time, systematic speech rehabilitation is needed after cochlear implantation.
If the child has congenital deafness, it is recommended to go to the hospital as soon as possible, complete the relevant examinations, and formulate a reasonable treatment plan under the guidance of the doctor.
