Codonopsis and American ginseng can be taken together in soup, and should be used as medicinal herbs according to doctor’s instructions.
Radix Panax Ginseng can be used in treating deficiency of spleen and lung qi, poor appetite, cough and asthma, tiredness, deficiency of qi and blood, palpitation and shortness of breath, yellowish color, internal heat and thirst (internal heat accompanied by symptoms such as eating, drinking and urinating), and thirst due to injury of body fluids. It is effective in benefiting the lung, strengthening the spleen, promoting the production of body fluid and nourishing blood. It should not be used in combination with quassia.
Radix Panax Ginseng is used in treating deficiency heat and tiredness, deficiency of qi and yin, coughing and wheezing with phlegm and blood, internal heat and thirst, and dry throat and mouth. It has the effect of nourishing yin, tonifying qi, generating body fluid and clearing heat. It is contraindicated to be used with veratrum.
According to the principle of Chinese medicine, Codonopsis pilosula can be used in combination with Radix et Rhizoma Ginseng, and it is usually taken in decoction for the treatment of diseases, and should be used by the doctor for the identification of symptoms.
