The Blood Sea point belongs to the foot-taiyin spleen meridian, has the effect of regulating menstruation and blood circulation, strengthening the spleen and resolving dampness (strengthening the spleen and getting rid of dampness), and facilitating the triple jiao, and is used in a discriminatory way to treat diseases, but the Blood Sea is only one point and does not have the so-called miraculous efficacy. The Blood Sea point is in the anterior femoral area, 2 inches above the medial end of the patellar base, where the medial thigh muscle bulges. It can be used for various blood disorders such as stasis and blood paralysis, blood-heat paranoia (heat evil causing blood to go out abnormally), and yin-blood insufficiency, and it is an important point for treating blood evidence (non-physiological bleeding disorders). The Blood Sea point is used to treat gynecological conditions such as irregular menstruation, dysmenorrhea, and menstrual closure; blood-heat skin diseases such as addictive rashes, eczema, and tansy (acute infections that are seen as reddening of the skin as if it had been coated with pigment); and also to treat medial knee and femoral (inner thigh) pain. This point can be needled, massaged, moxibustion, etc., but need to be under the guidance of a professional doctor for massage or moxibustion, not without authorization, in order to avoid skin redness and swelling and other adverse reactions. Acupuncture, on the other hand, needs to be operated by a specialized physician.
