The vomiting and diarrhea may be caused by a viral infection or an acute gastroenteritis caused by a bacterial infection, and the patient will need to cooperate with the doctor for relevant tests to determine this. If the infection is viral, a routine blood test will show elevated lymphocytes and normal or decreased white blood cells and neutrophils. In the case of bacterial infections, blood tests will indicate a significant increase in white blood cells and neutrophils, a decrease in lymphocytes, and an increase in C-reactive protein. For vomiting and diarrhea, regardless of the cause, the patient is advised to use medication with a specialist if necessary. If the infection is viral, antiviral medication will be given. If it is a bacterial infection, antibiotics can be used if necessary, in consultation with a specialist.
