Ankle valgus may be caused by congenital developmental factors or by acquired factors such as ligament injuries and muscle strength imbalances. Corrective methods mainly include non-surgical correction and surgical correction.
1. Congenital developmental factors: Congenital genetic factors or abnormal arch development may cause ankle valgus. For children with undefined bones, it is usually necessary to carry out continuous manipulation correction or wear individualized brace for brace correction; for patients with definite bones after puberty, it is usually necessary to carry out surgical correction, and the surgical methods are divided into soft-tissue loosening surgery, osteotomy and orthopaedic surgery, and so on.
2. Ligament injury: when the lateral ligament of the ankle joint is injured or the medial ligament is lax, the symptoms of ankle valgus may also occur, patients usually need to carry out a lot of rehabilitation training to make the strength of bilateral ligaments tend to be balanced; it is also possible to carry out the surgery for the ligament on the side of the adhesion that is serious to be loosened.
3. Muscle imbalance: Ankle valgus may also occur when there is an imbalance in the strength of the muscles surrounding the ankle joint, and the patient needs to carry out rehabilitation training to balance the strength of the muscles; if the muscle paralysis is caused by nerve damage, there is no good solution at present.
For the same disease, patients with different physical conditions and different stages of the disease have different treatments, and should be treated in a standardized manner under the guidance of a doctor.
